President William Ruto has signed seven crucial parliamentary bills aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, while enhancing Kenya’s global competitiveness.

The signing ceremony, which took place at State House, Nairobi, marks a significant step toward strengthening the country’s economic framework.

The bills signed include the Kenya Revenue Authority (Amendment) Bill 2024, the Kenya Roads (Amendment) Bill 2024, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024, and the Statutory Instruments (Amendment) Bill 2023.

Also included are the Business Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024, the Tax Procedures (Amendment) Bill 2024, and the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024.

“These bills are an essential part of our administration’s efforts to accelerate the achievement of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” President Ruto said. “By improving our business environment, ensuring better tax administration, and promoting infrastructure development, these reforms will drive sustainable economic growth and increase Kenya’s competitiveness on the global stage.”

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor, Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah, and other leaders were present at the signing ceremony.

The signing of these bills is expected to enhance the efficiency of key government agencies such as the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, streamline business regulations, and improve Kenya’s tax and legal systems.

The move is also aligned with the government’s broader objective of transforming the country into an economically resilient and globally competitive nation.
