President William Ruto has drummed up support for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, describing him as the right leader to carry forward the late Malulu Injendi’s development legacy.
Speaking during a campaign stop in Kakamega County, Ruto paid tribute to Injendi, calling him “a man of integrity, vision, and purpose” whose commitment to service had a lasting impact on the people of Malava.
“The late Malulu Injendi was more than a leader; he was a man of integrity, a visionary, and a progressive force whose devotion transformed lives in Malava. In David Ndakwa, we see the torchbearer of that vision,” the President said.Ruto urged residents to back Ndakwa, saying the candidate represents continuity in leadership and is best placed to complete the development projects initiated by his predecessor.
During the visit, the President also launched the construction of the 22-kilometre Malava–Samitsi–Navakholo road — a project he described as a “critical investment” aimed at unlocking the region’s agricultural potential and spurring economic activity.
The road is expected to ease the transportation of farm produce, including sugarcane, to factories and markets, while also stimulating local enterprise and improving connectivity within Kakamega County.
Ruto emphasized that the government remains committed to accelerating inclusive economic growth in the western region through infrastructure and agricultural development.
“Our focus is to deepen the transformation agenda and propel Malava Sub-County to greater heights of progress and prosperity,” he said.
