The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has asked all National and County Government entities that applied for reflective number plates to collect them from its Nairobi office.
In a notice issued on Friday, August 29, the Authority said it would extend its working hours over the weekend to speed up the process.
The Nairobi office will remain open on Saturday, August 30, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, a rare move since NTSA offices are usually closed on weekends except during special exercises to clear backlogs.
“The NTSA Nairobi office will be open on Saturday, 30th August, from 9 am to 3 pm to facilitate the collection of reflective number plates by National and County Government Entities,” the statement read.
NTSA also reminded government agencies that have not yet applied for the plates to do so before the set deadline of August 29. Those facing challenges were advised to send their queries to numberplates@ntsa.go.ke.
Applications are done online through the NTSA service portal. Applicants are only required to visit NTSA offices when returning old plates and collecting the new reflective plates.
This comes just a week after NTSA launched a new online portal where motorists can check the status of their number plate or driving license application before heading to collection centers.
To confirm the status, motorists log into the eCitizen portal, enter their vehicle registration number for plates, or their national ID number for driving licenses. NTSA noted that inquiries are then forwarded to the relevant collection center for follow-up.
