Special Projects and Creative Economy boss at the Presidency, Dennis Itumbi, has finally opened up on long-standing rumors about his relationship with former television journalist Jacque Maribe.

Speaking candidly, Itumbi admitted that the “relationship” was greatly hyped in public and in the media. As much as there was huge pressure even from his mother the two never went out.

“This relationship thing of Jacque Maribe and me was overplayed. But I earnestly wish I had made it real,” Itumbi revealed, adding the rumors have been going on for years.

The communications strategist went on to clarify that the relationship has always been a friendship-based one. “We are just good friends so far. I just kissed her once when we played birthday truth or dare,” he clarified.

Itumbi also indicated that the public narrative has made his private life more difficult since he always has to explain the “Maribe story” whenever he makes a move on a prospective partner. “We have overplayed that thing to the point that even today, if I approach a girl, I have to explain to her the Maribe bit,” he went on.

Despite the speculations, Itumbi maintained that he and Maribe are on good and respectful terms.
