Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that the government will take firm action against individuals seeking to destabilise the country through violence and organised criminal activities.
Murkomen said that just as security agencies have successfully tackled terrorism, banditry, organised crime and other threats, they will continue pursuing groups and individuals involved in political violence and activities that undermine national stability.
“I call upon all leaders to shun divisive politics and to stop exploiting our youth to perpetrate violence for political gain. Instead, they should embrace issue-based solutions that positively impact young people and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Murkomen said.
The Interior CS made the remarks while attending a church service at AIC Kamuneru in Mt. Elgon, Bungoma County, where he also participated in a fundraiser aimed at supporting infrastructure development.
Murkomen commended local security agencies in the region for their efforts in combating drug and substance abuse, urging them to sustain the crackdown and strengthen community safety initiatives.
He further directed security officers to intensify efforts in addressing cases of defilement and improve service delivery to residents.
The CS reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country, while calling on leaders to promote unity and focus on development rather than engaging young people in acts of violence.
