A multi-agency security team has recovered an illegal firearm and five rounds of ammunition in Isiolo as the ongoing Operation Dumisha Amani intensifies efforts to combat banditry and illegal arms.


The recovery was made on Thursday 13th August, the day when they retrieved the items from the bandit in the Kakili area of Burat Location following an intelligence-led operation.


Accoding to the National Police Service (NPS),
the firearm was allegedly being illegally held by a suspected bandit linked to recent armed attacks and livestock rustling in the region.

The recovered firearm and ammunition have been secured in police custody as investigations and further action continue.

NPS comended cooperation of security forces and residents, emphasizing that public tips are still vital in the fight against insecurity and illegal possession of firearms.

The security service reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating illegal weapons, disrupting banditry and enhancing safety across the region.

Residents have been urged to report suspicious activities or individuals suspected of possessing illicit weapons to the nearest police station or through emergency services.
