Police in Nairobi have arrested a member of a teenage criminal gang allegedly terrorising residents of Umoja estate. Nairobi regional police Commander George Seda while confirming the arrest, said the police are in pursuit of other gang members who are close to 20.
Videos of teen gangs terrorising and threatening residents of Nairobi’s Umoja estate have gone viral. The gang has spread fear and panic among the residents who also claim a life has been lost in the hands of the same gang.
The state of affairs has caught the eye of top security apparatus in the Nairobi City county, with the regional police Commander George Seda revealing one of the gang members seen arrested.
Commander Seda further disclosed that some of these emerging gangs are allegedly being financed by city syndicates seeking to settle political or business scores.
He vowed that the police would intensify operations to dismantle such networks and restore calm in affected estates.
He assured Nairobi city residents of their security and warned any criminal gang operating in the city that their days are numbered.
