The United Democratic Party (UDA) has postponed the grassroots elections in Tana River County to Thursday, August 20 instead of Friday, February 22.
According to a notice isued by the party after the National Elections Board consultation with Tana River locals and stakeholders, the reason for postponement is the meetings.
The grassroots elections will now be held on 20th of August, with voting expected to take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The ruling party has requested all its members, prospective aspirants, and other interested parties in the county to make preparations for the exercise given the date change.
The rescheduling comes as UDA continues preparations for its grassroots elections, which are expected to facilitate the selection of party officials and strengthen its structures at the local level.
The National Elections Board pointed out that the revised calendar should be adhered to by the members and those aspiring to be party leaders at the regional level as well.
UDA urged the stakeholders involved in the process and all others to support the electoral activities and respect the date changes.
