The government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering nationwide internet connectivity by 2028 as part of the Digital Superhighway pillar under the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo made the announcement during the graduation of 250 students and the official launch of the Mvita Constituency ICT Hub.
Kabogo applauded the spearheading of ICT development in the region, calling on leaders to focus on service delivery rather than political wrangles.
He also revealed that over 22,000 government services have now been integrated into the e-Citizen platform.
The newly launched ICT hub, equipped with 50 modern computers, is already providing youth with digital literacy and entrepreneurship training to enable access to global digital job opportunities.
Kabogo directed the Ministry of ICT and Konza Technopolis to supply an additional 50 computers to the centre, emphasizing gender inclusivity and talent development.
In attendance was the Principal Secretary for ICT John Tanui who added that digital hubs are also being set up in TVET institutions to strengthen digital literacy nationwide.
