The Kenya Publishers Association (KPA) has assured the public that textbooks for Grade 9 learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) are in the final stages of distribution.
Over 80% of these textbooks have already been delivered to public schools, with the remaining expected to be available by January 13, 2025.
KPA also clarified the availability of books for private schools, stating, “The Grade 9 textbooks are already in bookshops. Parents, teachers, and all those who wish to purchase the books should visit bookshops.” In case of unavailability, they encouraged contacting KPA for assistance at +254724255848.
These books cover subjects such as Mathematics, Kiswahili, and Pre-technical Studies.Private schools can access the books in local bookshops.
If unavailable, parents and teachers can contact KPA for further guidance.Additionally, following the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER) recommendations, several learning areas have been merged.
Publishers have developed updated materials, which are set for release by February 2025.
KPA confirmed that sufficient textbooks from the previous curriculum remain available for Grades 5-8.
The public has access to a wide variety of books, including those for creative arts and lifelong learning, in bookstores.
