The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Director General has held talks with Kenya Power Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Siror on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions in advancing Kenya’s energy sector.
The meeting, held at EPRA offices, focused on areas of mutual collaboration and ways of strengthening the working relationship between the energy regulator and the country’s main electricity distributor.
The engagement comes amid ongoing efforts to improve the reliability, sustainability and efficiency of electricity supply in Kenya as demand for power continues to grow across households, businesses and industries.
The EPRA Director General said the discussions provided an opportunity for the two institutions to explore areas where closer cooperation could support the development and regulation of the country’s energy sector.
“Our discussions focused on areas of mutual collaboration and strengthening the working relationship between EPRA and Kenya Power in advancing the development and regulation of Kenya’s energy sector,” the Director General said.
The regulator further expressed optimism that continued engagement between the two institutions would strengthen coordination in addressing challenges affecting the electricity sector.
“I look forward to continued engagement and collaboration between our two institutions in pursuit of a reliable, sustainable and efficient energy sector for Kenya,” the Director General added.

EPRA is responsible for regulating Kenya’s energy sector, including electricity generation, transmission, distribution and retail, while Kenya Power oversees electricity distribution and retail supply to consumers.
The two institutions play complementary roles in ensuring electricity services meet regulatory standards while supporting the country’s broader energy development objectives.
