Kenya’s rising long-distance sensation Loice Chemnung is proving unstoppable, following up her impressive 31:26 finish at the Bangsaen10 Road Race in Thailand on May 25 with another dominant performance on home soil.

At the Kenya Prisons Championships, the 28-year-old stormed to victory in the 5000m, clocking 15:18.00 in a commanding solo run that left the competition behind.

Her sharp pacing, unwavering confidence, and sheer strength cemented her status as one of the top athletes to watch this season.

Already selected to represent Kenya in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Japan this August, Chemnung remains focused and determined.

“I’m optimistic about the season. I know the work I’ve put in, and I’m trusting the process,” she said after the race.

Recruited into the Kenya Prisons Service in 2019 and the reigning Prisons Cross Country Champion, Chemnung’s rising consistency across distances and continents is turning heads globally. With her current form, she’s shaping up as a serious medal contender for Team Kenya in Tokyo.

Trailing behind her in second was African 10,000m silver medallist Rebecca Mwangi, while New York Marathon champion Sheila Chepkurui finished third to round out a highly competitive podium.
