Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called for increased support and resources for women and youth empowerment programs, urging the government to expand funding and partnerships to reach more grassroots groups.

Speaking during a church event in Nairobi attended by President and other political leaders and congregants, Passaris affirmed her support for President William Ruto’s leadership and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to uplift vulnerable communities.

“Nairobi is in God's hands and will remain under the leadership of President William Samoei Ruto,” she said. “As Women Reps, we receive some funds for economic empowerment, but it is too little. We can only support two groups per year, yet we have hundreds in need—especially youth and women-led initiatives like car washes. We need to have a real conversation about how to expand this support.”

Passaris thanked the church, the congregation, and young speakers who participated in the event, expressing her pride in the next generation and pledging continued support for their growth.

“The young generation—we are here for you,” she said. “But we must work together, be patient, and continue to trust in God’s timing.”

Her remarks underscored the growing call among leaders for more inclusive development policies that prioritize grassroots empowerment, particularly for women and youth.
