Kenyans seeking government services online have been advised to plan ahead after the National Treasury announced two scheduled interruptions on the e-Citizen platform in November.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, November 5, the Treasury said the system would undergo maintenance on November 7–8 and November 14–15, 2026.

The maintenance will take place between 10 pm and 5 am on each occasion, during which users may experience temporary service interruptions or limited access to government services.

The Government Digital Payments Department said the exercise was necessary to upgrade the system, improve its performance, enhance security and strengthen the reliability of the platform.

“The National Treasury wishes to notify members of the public, stakeholders and all system users that scheduled maintenance will be undertaken on the e-Citizen Platform,” the notice stated.

The government has urged Kenyans to complete urgent transactions before the scheduled maintenance begins to avoid inconveniences.

The interruptions could affect people using the platform to apply for government documents, make payments, renew licences and access other public services.

Principal Secretary to the National Treasury Dr Chris Kiptoo signed the notice, assuring users that the exercise was aimed at improving service delivery.

“The National Treasury regrets any inconvenience this interruption may cause and appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as we undertake this exercise to improve service delivery,” the notice added.

The e-Citizen platform provides access to thousands of government services, allowing Kenyans to make applications and payments online without visiting government offices.

The Treasury has urged members of the public to take note of the two maintenance windows and make necessary arrangements before the scheduled interruptions.
