Hussein Mohammed has unveiled former Harambee Stars captain McDonald Mariga as the running mate ahead of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections on December 7.
Hussein, the vice-chairman of Murang’a Seal is among the candidates hoping to succeed the incumbent president, Nick Mwendwa.
“I am glad to introduce to you McDonald Mariga as my running mate! A son of Kenyan football, Mariga’s journey from local streets to international stadiums is proof of what Kenyan talent can achieve,” Hussein said.
Adding; “Now, he’s back to help build a system that nurtures the next generation right here at home. Together, we’re setting the foundation for a Fresh Start in Kenyan football,”.
Mariga emphasised the importance of accountability and honesty while managing football in Kenya promising that if elected, their leadership will ensure football is brought back to Kenyans.

“Together, we bring a vision that begins at the grassroots and aims to put Kenyan football on the global map. We need Kenyans to start believing again as we fix whatever went wrong in the first place,” Mariga said.

Hussein is battling the federation’s top seat against former FKF National Executive Committee member for Nyanza Tom Alila, Kakamega Homeboyz Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula and Ex-Kenyan international Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino.
Others are former Kenya Premier League CEO Jack Oguda, Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ocholla, former FKF president Sam Nyamweya and immediate former FKF CEO Barry Otieno who announced his bid today.
