Speculation is rife that Ndia MP George Kariuki has registered a new political party as part of his strategic preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The MP, known for his close alliance with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, is reportedly laying the groundwork to position himself as a key political force within Kirinyaga County and the broader Mt. Kenya region.

In a recent public statement, Kariuki boldly asserted that “Kirinyaga is not a colony of any other county in Mt. Kenya,” a remark widely interpreted as a veiled challenge to regional political heavyweights, particularly those aligned with NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua.

Reliable sources indicate that Kariuki has been holding a series of meetings with grassroots leaders and opinion shapers across the county to popularize the yet-to-be-unveiled party.

The move is seen as a direct attempt to counter Martha Karua’s influence in the region and carve out a distinct political identity.

The alleged formation of Kariuki’s party comes amid similar rumors surrounding other prominent politicians.

Recent reports claimed that Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino were behind the formation of a new outfit dubbed the People’s Party of Kenya.

However, Owino has since refuted the claims, dismissing the reports as baseless.

Meanwhile, former Thika MP Patrick Wainaina, popularly known as Jungle, is also said to have acquired a political party, further signaling an early start to the 2027 political realignments.

Political analyst argue that as the country edges closer to the next general election, the political landscape appears to be shifting, with new parties emerging and alliances being tested.

Whether MP George Kariuki’s alleged new party will gain traction remains to be seen—but it’s clear that the Mt. Kenya region is shaping up to be a battleground once again.
