The National Assembly’s Audit Committee on Decentralized Funds Accounts has raised concerns over the management of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) projects in Buuri, Mbeere North, and Mbeere South.

During a session chaired by Hon. (Dr.) Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central), the committee scrutinized audit reports from the Office of the Auditor-General covering financial years 2013/14 to 2022/23.

Buuri Constituency Fund Accounts Manager Lucy Ndong’o was commended for her efforts in addressing audit queries raised during her tenure.

However, Mbeere North Accounts Manager Richard Maingi faced criticism for failing to adequately respond to audit questions, citing political instability ahead of an upcoming by-election.

Lawmakers expressed alarm over delayed, incomplete, and poorly executed projects in Mbeere North. “How are Kenyans getting value for their money?” questioned Hon. Jackson Lekumontare (Samburu East).

Hon. Dorothy Muthoni (Meru) linked the region’s declining school enrolment to ineffective project management, while Hon. Stephen Mogaka (West Mugirango) called for greater public participation in project planning to curb wastage and ensure accountability.
