Amid speculations, President William Ruto has explained why he cancelled his visit to Embu County for a Church celebration event.
Ruto attended service at AIC Milimani as his beleaguered deputy Rigathi Gachagua attended the ACK Diocese of Embu on the Diocesan 34th anniversary thanksgiving at Kigari Teachers’ Training College.
Claims were rife the President feared unfriendly reception in Embu amidst the ongoing impeachment of Gachagua.
Ruto attended the AIC Milimani 30th anniversary celebration, saying because of his long-standing connection with the church, he could not miss the event.
“When the senior pastor told me that there had been sent an invitation for this celebration, I told him I am going to struggle because it wasn’t in my diary. My Diary was committed somewhere else”.
“I had to negotiate with people in other places because I didn’t want to miss this celebration. Because there is truly something to celebrate about AIC Milimani” Ruto told the congregation.
Adding, “I have personal experience of the humble beginnings of this church and looking at it today the way it is, it is awesome. It is a true blessing and I wanted to be a part of this great moment celebrating 30 years of God’s faithfulness in Milimani church”.
At Embu, Gachagua expressed confidence that his case will be handled fairly before the courts.
