The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has intensified preparations for its grassroots elections in Sirisia Constituency, Bungoma County, bringing together polling centre officials for training on the party’s grassroots elections guidelines.
The sensitisation exercise, held at Mayuba Stadium, forms part of a nationwide rollout by the UDA National Elections Board (NEB) aimed at equipping grassroots officials with the procedures and requirements governing the party’s internal elections.
Polling Centre Officials Trained
The Sirisia engagement was spearheaded by Ferrah Etyang, with support from members of the UDA Party Secretariat. Officials drawn from different wards attended the training, where they were taken through the guidelines expected to guide the grassroots electoral process.
UDA has been conducting grassroots election activities as it strengthens its structures at polling centre and ward levels. The party’s official website lists grassroots elections among its ongoing party activities, with the National Elections Board overseeing the process.
Focus on Electoral Procedures
The sensitisation seeks to ensure that officials understand their roles and the procedures applicable during the elections.
UDA’s election rules provide a framework for party nominations and elections and recognise the National Elections Board as the body established to oversee the party’s electoral processes.
The training comes as UDA proceeds with ward-level grassroots election preparations in Bungoma and other counties. The party has announced that ward-level grassroots elections in Bungoma, Tana River and Kericho are scheduled for September 26, 2026.
The party says strengthening structures at the grassroots level is intended to improve organisation and participation in its internal electoral processes.
The Sirisia exercise therefore provides local officials with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the guidelines before the next phase of the party’s grassroots elections.
