Miriam Kubai, acting under the power of attorney for the Leseru Tebeson Farmers Society, has been formally charged with forgery and making false documents in a case tied to a long-running land dispute near Moi Barracks in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Kubai is accused of attempting to defraud the Ministry of Defence by allegedly forging an amended certificate of confirmation of grant, which she purported to be an official document issued by the High Court of Kenya in Kakamega.
Appearing before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Eldoret, Kubai denied the charges. The court granted her release on a bond of Sh1.25 million pending further proceedings.
The disputed land, located near the military installation in Moi Barracks, has been at the center of legal wrangles involving competing claims of ownership, raising broader questions over land documentation and historical land rights in the region.
The case is set for mention on May 12, 2025, as investigations and legal arguments continue. Authorities have signaled that further scrutiny into related land claims may follow.
