Suspect Arrested in Murder of TUK Lecturer Edgar Mokua
Homicide detectives have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of Technical University of Kenya (TUK) lecturer Edgar Mokua, whose disappearance earlier this month ended in the discovery of his body at the City Mortuary.
Mokua was last seen on July 6, 2026, leaving his residence at Princes Park in Lavington at about 4:20 p.m. When he failed to return home, his family reported him missing at Muthangari Police Station after unsuccessful efforts to trace him.
Five days later, his body was found at the City Mortuary after officers from Kiamumbi Police Station recovered it near Woodcreek Academy and transferred it to the facility.
Investigators from the Homicide Directorate took over the case and established that Mokua had spent several hours at Kettle Club in Lavington with two men and a woman before the group proceeded to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall. His companions later left, leaving him behind. He was never seen alive again.
Forensic investigations traced a grey Toyota Ractis, registration number KBZ 002R, believed to have been used to dump Mokua’s body near Woodcreek Academy before speeding away.
Detectives later arrested Richard Gikuhe Mbugua at Ruiru Blue Estate and recovered the vehicle at Murera Farm in Juja. The suspect remains in police custody awaiting arraignment, while the vehicle has been impounded as an exhibit as investigations continue.
