President William Ruto has nominated new officials to key constitutional offices, including the Registrar of Political Parties and the Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).
In a statement from State House on Friday, Ruto named John Cox Lorionokou as the Registrar of Political Parties and Agatha Wanjiku Wahome as the Assistant Registrar. The appointments follow recommendations from the Public Service Commission.
The President also nominated Claris Awour Onganga as Chairperson of KNCHR, acting on the advice of a selection panel.
"In addition, and in line with the recommendation of the Selection Panel appointed via Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4651 of 11th April 2025, President Ruto has nominated Ms. Claris Awour Onganga for consideration by the National Assembly for appointment as Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR)," read a statement by Statehouse spokesperson.
The nominations have been formally forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting and approval, in line with constitutional requirements.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the appointments are part of the administration’s commitment to strengthening independent offices and commissions.
