The National Police Service ( NPS ) on Thursday evening has issued a press statement clarifying the discovery of the body of Justice Mutumwa , one of the four men who went missing in December 2024 under unclear circumstances.
In the statement, released on January 30th 2025,it refutes allegations circulating in mainstream and social media, emphasising that some details surrounding the tragic incident were inaccurate.
“On the 18th of December 2024,at around 1400 hours , police were alerted of a body that was floating along Nairobi River,Ruai-some 4 Kilometres North of the station -by a lady who was irrigating her vegetables along the river,” said Muchiri Nyaga ,speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of police.

Mutumwa’s family reported him missing on December 21st 2024 unaware of the discovery in Ruai. His disappearance is part of four cases reported in Mlolongo between December 16th and 17th 2024.
The body remained unidentified until yesterday, when forensic investigations conducted by the relevant authorities confirmed it was, in fact, that of the missing Justus Mutumwa.
The case has sparked public outrage, and the high court has ordered further investigations to explain the disappearances.
