A coordinated multi-agency security operation in Moyale has led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of illegal firearms and a significant quantity of narcotics, in a major crackdown on criminal activity in the region.

The joint operation, involving police and other security agencies, was conducted in the Butiye and Odda areas of Moyale Sub-County.

In Butiye, law enforcement officers arrested Adan Jilo after a search of his residence led to the discovery of an AK-47 rifle, three rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a magazine, and 16 kilograms of cannabis sativa.

In a separate but related operation in the Odda area, officers apprehended Toto Issack Dika. A search of her home yielded another AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a magazine, and 18 kilograms of cannabis sativa.

Both suspects are currently being held at Moyale Police Station, where they are undergoing processing ahead of their expected arraignment in court.

Authorities say the operation underscores the government’s continued efforts to dismantle networks involved in illegal arms trafficking and drug distribution, which pose a serious threat to regional security and public health.

Security officials have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order in the border region and have urged residents to report suspicious activities through official channels.
