A legal practitioner based in Nairobi has been charged with land fraud after an investigation alleged involvement in a land fraud scheme aimed at unlawfully acquiring a privately owned property.
The accused, named Abdulahi Musdaf Hussein, had been in an investigative case of land fraud with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters’ Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU). He was arrested upon completion of the investigation into a case by a complainant who claims to register the ownership of the property at issue.
Accordingto DCI, the complainant had purchased the land parcel in the year 2025, and she was lawfully in possession of the land before a court document from a third party showing that Hussein was also claiming the land surprised her in November 2023.
Following the complaint, detectives launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the ownership dispute. Upon concluding the probe, the investigation file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
Investigations were conducted after the complaint was filed to clarify the circumstances of the property ownership dispute. The case file was then transferred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) when detectives completed their work on the investigation.
The ODPP reviewed the evidence and approved the recommendation to charge the suspect with making a false document and uttering a forged document.
Detectives later tracked Hussein to Nairobi’s Central Business District, where he was arrested. He has since been taken into police custody and is being processed ahead of his arraignment in court.
The DCI has announced that work against land fraud remains a major priority as they get stricter on fraudulent property transactions and help protect the rights of genuine property owners everywhere in the country.
