President William Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta are reportedly having secret talks with a likelihood of making up after years of political rivalry.
Political pundits weigh that Ruto is planning to use Uhuru to re-endear himself to the vote-rich Mt Kenya region due to growing antipathy after Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.
With the duo partnering again, the political temperatures in Central will probably calm down, as Uhuru is considered the de facto kingpin of the region.
"The two leaders have been talking, and this reflects Ruto's call for national unity as envisioned in his agenda to constitute a broad-based government," an insider from State House Nairobi said.
The alleged Uhuru-Ruto talks might culminate in the inclusion of the former president’s allies in the Kenya Kwanza government.
However, it is reported that Uhuru is not keen on getting government posts but is rooting for a united country and a conducive environment where businesses can thrive.
