After President William Ruto cancelled the Adani deals with KETRACO and JKIA, some quarters challenged him to also halt the alleged deal the Indian conglomerate has with the Social Health Authority (SHA).

However, the government has come out to clarify, saying SHA does not have any deals with the Adani Group, which is currently marred in controversies.

It had been alleged that Adani had partnered with SHA on digitisation of the Universal Healthcare Software.

In a statement, government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura said the existing contract that SHA inherited was between the defunct NHIF and the service providers of the system they were using called HICS.

"The digitization contract being alluded to is between the Ministry of Health and Safaricom PLC and Apiero LTD and Konvergenz Network Solutions. SHA is part of the bigger health digitization agenda that involves KEMSA, Regulators - KMPDC, PPB, Nursing Council etc (17 regulators) Health Care providers- hospitals and health care workers devices, connectivity, power back up, licences etc," said Mwaura.

Mwaura claimed those dragging Adani to SHA are cartels who were benefiting from NHIF at the expense of citizens.
