Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, has attributed Murang’a County’s health achievements to collaboration between the national and county governments, development partners, and the community.
During a visit to oversee the training of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) on basic health services, Muthoni commended their role in improving healthcare access.
The county has 2,090 CHPs who, using the Electronic Community Health Information System (E-CHIS), have registered 151,000 households, with 126,000 receiving routine health services.
Key milestones include:
Screening 174,000 people for diabetes, referring 2,460 for care
Screening 141,000 for hypertension, with 11,900 referred for management.
Identifying 1,760 pregnant women, with 551 referred for antenatal care.
Assessing 19,600 children under five for conditions like malnutrition, diarrhea, and malaria.
Muthoni praised the CHPs for their dedication, emphasizing that their work, combined with innovative tools like E-CHIS, is advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“The dedication of Community Health Promoters is transforming healthcare delivery in Murang’a. Their commitment, combined with innovative tools like E-CHIS, is bringing essential health services closer to households. This is what UHC looks like—leaving no one behind,” she said.
