The Public Service Commission (PSC) has invited applications for paid graduate internships under Cohort 9 of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The commission said successful applicants will be deployed to government ministries, departments, state agencies, state corporations and public universities for a 12-month internship aimed at equipping graduates with practical work experience and professional skills.
According to the PSC, the internship is non-renewable, and selected candidates will receive a monthly government stipend throughout the programme before being awarded an internship certificate upon successful completion.
Eligibility requirements
To qualify, applicants must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
- Have graduated in 2020 or later.
- Be proficient in computer applications.
- Not have previously benefited from a similar internship programme.
The commission added that interns will be expected to carry out duties assigned by their supervisors, document the skills they acquire and participate in mentorship activities during the one-year placement.

Interested graduates can submit their applications through the PSC job portal accessible via the commission’s official websites.
The application deadline is Monday, August 17, 2026.

The announcement comes days after President William Ruto unveiled the NextGen.Ke initiative, under which the government plans to work with the private sector to guarantee every university graduate a one-year internship. The president also directed the government to significantly increase internship opportunities for young Kenyans over the coming months.
