Kenya Police FC has sent home its entire technical bench, including head coach Salim Babu, following a disappointing start to the season after just five league matches.

The club has appointed Beldine Odemba, coach of the women’s team, to take charge of the men’s team on an interim basis.

This decision comes after the team struggled in the Kenya Premier League, securing only one win, three draws, and one loss, placing them in 15th position on the table.

Along with Babu, who had been with the team since the start of last season, coach Anthony Kimani has also been dismissed.

Goalkeeper coach Michael Manga and several junior coaching and medical staff members have also lost their positions.

The sweeping changes have raised eyebrows, particularly after Kenya Police FC’s historic participation in the CAF Confederation Cup just two months ago, where they were eliminated in the second preliminary round by Egyptian giants Zamalek SC.

Despite the team’s notable achievement in continental football, their domestic performance has been underwhelming, prompting the board to make this bold move.

Odemba will lead the team in their upcoming match against Kariobangi Sharks while the club searches for a permanent replacement.

A new appointment is expected to be announced before the end of this month.

Babu’s dismissal marks the latest managerial change at the club.
