President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to placing climate adaptation at the center of public service delivery.

Speaking during the ceremony of the Global Center on Adaptation African headquarters in Nairobi, the Head of State emphasized the need for climate-responsive governance that empowers institutions to drive sustainable development.”We are placing climate adaptation at the heart of public service to support institutional transformation for governance that is climate-responsive.”

The facility is expected to transform the continent’s approach to tackling climate change. The president said the centre will work with government agencies to integrate climate resilience into planning, budgeting, and service delivery frameworks.

Former President of Senegal Macky Sall who is also Chair of Global Center on Adaptation Board, emphasized the essential role of resilience-driven development.

The facility which is slated to be completed mid-2027 will serve as GCA’s hub for unlocking finance, mainstreaming adaptation in development planning, and galvanizing a global coalition to act on adaptation with the urgency it demands.
