The National Police Service (NPS) has rolled out a countrywide security and road safety operation ahead of the Easter holiday, aiming to safeguard Kenyans amid increased travel, festivities, and tourism activities.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the NPS warned of heightened risks due to the ongoing heavy rainfall, which has rendered roads in many regions hazardous and raised the potential for flooding and poor visibility.
“These challenges are further exacerbated by the heavy rainfall affecting most parts of the country,” the police said, urging Kenyans to exercise extra caution while on the roads.
To manage the anticipated surge in activity during the festive period, the NPS has announced a substantial increase in police deployment across key public areas, including markets, shopping malls, churches, bus stations, and entertainment joints.
Uniformed officers will be backed by undercover operatives and specialized units, all tasked with identifying and neutralizing potential threats to public safety.

The NPS is also partnering with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to intensify traffic enforcement, conduct vehicle inspections, and ensure that drivers, passengers, and boda boda operators adhere to road safety laws.
“We urge all drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, boda boda riders, and passengers to comply with traffic rules and regulations,” read the statement.
The police have called on public service vehicle (PSV) operators and boda boda associations to collaborate with law enforcement to enhance discipline, improve customer service, and prioritize safety throughout the holiday season.
The move comes amid growing concern over reckless driving, overloading, and non-compliance with licensing requirements—factors that typically contribute to road fatalities during peak travel periods.
Beyond physical security and road safety, the NPS is also appealing to the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. Several emergency numbers—including 999, 911, 112, and the DCI anonymous tip line #FichuakwaDCI (0800 722 203)—have been shared for immediate reporting of incidents.
“With your cooperation and the unwavering dedication of police officers, we can look forward to a secure and joyful holiday period,” the NPS concluded.
