Embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to address the nation from his official Karen residence today, Monday, October 7 at 7pm.
The presser comes hours before the start of the debate on his impeachment motion, which was tabled in the National Assembly by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
Mutuse presented 11 grounds to impeach Gachagua, including abuse of office. For instance, the DP is accused of amassing wealth through corruption and money laundering.
There have been calls for the DP to resign before being impeached to save his political career. Political analyst Dismas Mokua said this will enable Gachagua to hold another public office in the future.
In the convened 7pm presser, some quarters and political pundits believe Gachagua might announce his resignation.
