Athlete fraternity has been thrown into mourning again following the death of former World Under-20 champion Kipyegon Bett.
Bett passed on yesterday at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet after short illness.
His death comes two days after Samson Kandie, a retired marathoner was killed by unknown people at his home in the upscale Elgon View Estate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu.
Bett was the 2016 World U20 800m champion and in 2017 World Championships he won bronze.
Family said he had bee unwell for a month and had been treated at AIC Litein Hospital.

On Saturday, his condition deteriorated and was referred to Tenwek for further tests.
According to Nation, Bett had been vomiting blood due to a damage to some of his internal organs.
In 2017 World Relay Championships Bett won silver in 4x800m but the following year he was slapped with a four-year ban for using Erythropoietin, a banned performance-enhancing drug.
His last race was at the 2022 third Athletics Kenya track and field meeting where he competed in the 400m and finished third.
