Nyeri billionaire and prominent business figure, Dr. Thuo Mathenge, has called on Kenyans to maintain peace and order, urging the public not to be swayed by the current political tensions.
Addressing the press in Nyeri, Mathenge emphasized the importance of allowing the courts to handle the legal challenges surrounding the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
Mathenge appealed for calm and urged Mount Kenya residents, both from the east and west of the region, to unite. He noted that divisions within the political class should not be allowed to destabilize the region or the country at large.
“We must uphold peace and let the courts make a fair determination regarding the case. It is in everyone’s best interest to respect the rule of law and avoid any form of violence,” Mathenge said.
He further stressed the need for the people of Mount Kenya to learn from the ongoing political disputes within the government.
Mathenge pointed out that internal divisions could undermine the region’s influence in future political dynamics, especially as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.
“The continuous wrangling we see should serve as a lesson to us all. We, the people of Mount Kenya, must speak with one voice if we are to secure our place in the political arena come 2027. The time to unite is now, not later,” Mathenge added.
