Dennis Itumbi, in his capacity as the National Holidays Thematic Technical Committee chairperson, has suspended all programmes and activities of the Energy Mashujaa Week in Kitui County.
This is in line with President William Ruto’s call to fellow leaders to suspend public engagements to mourn Raila Odinga, who died in India on the morning of Wednesday, October 15.
The Mashujaa activities, which started on Tuesday, were scheduled to conclude on Saturday, October 18, ahead of Monday, October 20, Mashujaa Day fete.
The cancellation has been conveyed to all participants gathered at the Kitui Teacher Training College.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and to all Kenyans mourning this great loss. Poleni sana. May God stretch His gracious hand over all of you, granting peace, strength, and comfort during this difficult time," said Itumbi.
