President William Ruto is travelling to Moscow, Russia, to participate in the Third Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, with Kenya seeking to expand export markets, attract investment and create jobs.
According to a statement issued by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the President’s visit will focus on advancing Kenya’s economic and strategic interests through trade, investment and international partnerships.
As the African Union champion on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Ruto will push for greater market access for African tea, coffee, cut flowers, fresh produce and value-added products.
The President will also seek investment opportunities in agro-processing, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, alongside partnerships in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and technology transfer.
The engagements are expected to explore ways of equipping young people with emerging technology skills, supporting businesses and strengthening Kenya’s digital economy. Discussions will also focus on securing affordable agricultural inputs and improving food security.
At the Africa–Russia Business Roundtable, Ruto will present Kenya as an investment destination and a gateway to African markets. The government aims to promote joint ventures and commercial partnerships that strengthen local industries, create employment and increase the value of Kenyan exports.
Beyond trade and investment, the forum will provide an opportunity for African leaders to engage Russia on global peace, regional security and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
African countries are also expected to push for reforms in global governance, greater representation in international decision-making and partnerships based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.
On the sidelines of the forum, Ruto is scheduled to meet heads of state and government, international organisations, financial institutions and major corporations to mobilise investment, open new markets and secure partnerships to support Kenya’s economic transformation.
