Kericho Golf Club, nestled in the lush tea-growing highlands of Kenya, is set to host the eighth leg of the KCB Golf Series this weekend. Over 250 golfers will gather at the pristine course this Saturday for a highly anticipated tournament, vying for top spots in the KCB East Africa Golf Tour.
This competitive event marks a significant milestone in the tour, as golfers from across the region compete for a chance to participate in the grand finale scheduled for December 5, 2025.
“We are excited to be part of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour – a regional series that has been crucial in democratizing the sport, fostering regional unity and boosting socio-economic development. Golfers can expect a course that is in pristine condition and I urge them to show up in numbers for this fantastic outing,” noted Kericho Golf Club Captain Anthony Cheruiyot.
The KCB Golf Series has already made stops in Mombasa, Nairobi, Kiambu, and even crossed borders to Burundi. The series has reached over 100 participants and engaged more than 500 junior golfers, underscoring the growing popularity and impact of the tour.
Speaking ahead of the Kericho leg, KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru said: “Our involvement in golf is aimed at elevating the sport to elite levels while giving enthusiasts opportunities to compete in local, regional and global events, to position Kenya as a premier golfing destination. Recently, Kericho has grown to become a golfing town. Therefore, we saw it fit to host this competition at the town to enable more golfers to enjoy the game.”
The tournament will feature morning tee-off at 6:30 am, with an afternoon session at 12:30 pm. Among the competitors is Kericho’s own star golfer, Collins Kipchirchir, who is expected to showcase his skills alongside top amateurs from Kericho and neighboring clubs.
In addition to the tournament, KCB will host a junior golf clinic at the club on Sunday, expected to attract 100 young golfers. This initiative is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to promote the growth of golf at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, a tree-planting exercise will take place, contributing to KCB’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility under the KCB Golf Series.
As the excitement builds, all eyes will be on Kericho Golf Club, where golfers will battle it out for top honors while contributing to the continued success of the KCB Golf Series in East Africa.
