At the Karen Technical Institute for the Deaf grounds Nairobi, marked a significant technical assessment that was conducted by Creative Economy, Youth Affairs and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya together with Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, President’s Advisor Hon. Moses Kuria and AFC leadership led by patron Alex Muteshi and members of the political class.
The assessment aims to evaluate the feasibility of transforming the grounds into a modern football training facility. The facility is envisioned to serve AFC Leopards SC as well as community football clubs within Nairobi and its environs.
The initiative stems from a formal request made by AFC Leopards SC to H.E. President William Ruto. Once upgraded, the facility will provide a conducive environment that will support talent identification, nurturing and development.
The training ground will expand access to quality infrastructure for aspiring footballers, offering them a platform to grow their skills and pursue professional opportunities.
A Technical team led by Sports Kenya is now tasked with finalizing feasibility assessment and providing advice on implementing timelines in line with the President’s directive.
These investments are designed to strengthen talent development opportunities for young athletes, positioning sports as a vital economic pillar that will create jobs and transform livelihoods.
The proposed training ground forms part of the government’s ongoing investment in sports infrastructure, including the construction of 33 new stadia across the country.
