Kenya has expressed that it will continue to deepen its cooperation with other countries on governance issues and will also strengthen relationships that are aimed at the fast alleviation of poverty all over the country.
While addressing the China–Kenya Readers’ Forum on The Governance of China by President Xi Jinping, the ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo said that apart from being the key enablers of Kenya’s national development agenda, effective governance and knowledge-sharing also open Kenya to new global partnerships. Kabogo observed that Kenya and China have a long-term cooperation relationship, which is based on mutual learning, dialogue, and people-to-people engagement.
The forum on Monday morning at a Nairobi hotel packed kenyan and Chinese policymakers, scholars, and development experts. The event was facilitated by State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China, China International Communications Group, Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Foreign Languages Press, and CICG Center for Europe and Africa collectively.
According to the Chinese ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, worldwide partnerships are very important. She said that combining forces helps a lot in building the capacity of institutions, improving the delivery of services, and facilitating the implementation of policies.
Moreover, the Chinese Embassy officials have commended the bilateral collaboration of the two countries, and they have cited the infrastructure sector as the major area where-transformation has taken place through successful cooperation.
The panel discussions delved into the major issues that included poverty alleviation measures, community participation in development, and how digital governance can be used to enhance public sector efficiency.
The participants agreed that cooperation and knowledge exchange cannot be put to rest if we are to solve new development challenges and make shared prosperity a reality.
