– Kenya is gearing up to host the 11th edition of the Our Ocean Conference, scheduled from June 16 to 18, 2026, in Mombasa, marking the first time the prestigious global forum will be held on the African continent.

The event positions Kenya as a key player in international ocean governance and highlights the country’s commitment to sustainable maritime development.

Principal Secretary for the State Department of the Blue Economy and Fisheries, PS Betsy Njagi, CBS, briefed the conference’s Steering Committee on the state of preparedness, noting significant progress in key areas and emphasizing the urgent need to finalize invitations for all categories of delegates to ensure inclusive global participation.

“I underscored that hosting the Our Ocean Conference represents a pivotal milestone for Kenya’s Blue Economy agenda. The event will showcase our nation’s maritime potential, foster strategic partnerships, and advance commitments on marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, and ocean-based economic transformation,” she posted on her X account .

The briefing, chaired by Deputy Chief of Staff and Ocean Panel Sherpa Hon. Josphat Nanok, also saw participation from PS Ray Omollo (Interior), PS Singoei Korir (Foreign Affairs), PS Ololtuaa (Tourism), Ambassador Abdi Dubat, and the technical team from the State Department for the Blue Economy.
