Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reiterated Kenya’s strong bilateral relations with Sudan, emphasizing mutual respect and shared interests as the foundation of their partnership.

Speaking after a meeting with Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Ali Yousif Ahmed Al-Sharif, on the sidelines of the 18th Ordinary Session of the Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee (RIMC) of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) in Luanda, Angola, Mudavadi described the discussions as productive.

“We reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations, exploring new avenues of collaboration, and fostering initiatives that will advance the prosperity and well-being of the Kenyan and Sudanese people,” he said.

The meeting underscored the countries’ focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, peacebuilding, and regional stability.

Mudavadi noted that Kenya remains committed to supporting Sudan in addressing ongoing challenges and promoting sustainable development.

The engagement also highlighted Kenya’s broader role within the ICGLR, where member states are working to address issues affecting the Great Lakes region, including security, humanitarian concerns, and economic integration.

The collaboration between Kenya and Sudan is seen as pivotal in promoting regional peace and fostering stronger diplomatic ties within the African continent.

Both leaders expressed optimism about unlocking opportunities for their nations through continued dialogue and cooperation.
