A section of Kenya Kwanza leaders led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki have faulted retired President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent remarks that the current administration has undone the progress made during his tenure.
Speaking during an Economic Empowerment Engagement with residents of the northeastern region, Kindiki urged the former head of state to base his criticism of the government on facts.“We welcome correction, but it must be factual. The current administration has worked to stabilize the economy we inherited,” Kindiki told residents.
The leaders accompanying the Deputy President accused Uhuru of leaving behind a battered economy, which they claimed the Kenya Kwanza government has worked to rectify.
They further dismissed the former president’s sentiments during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference on Friday as political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Politics surrounding the next polls dominated the event, with leaders urging residents of Garissa and the wider northeastern region to rally behind the Kenya Kwanza agenda.
Meanwhile, Kindiki outlined key government projects underway in the region, including infrastructure, education, and security initiatives, calling on locals to back the administration’s development plan as the country heads toward another election cycle.
