Nairobi former Governor Mike Sonko has received global recognition for his humanitarian service and leadership work. Sonko received the Leadership Excellence Award and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Governance during the 3rd edition of the UNIPGC Global Leadership Investment Summit and Peace Award (GLISPA) held at the House of Lords, British Parliament.
The awards were bestowed by the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) and the Jewel Howard Taylor Leadership Program, founded by Liberia’s former Vice President. The awards recognize Sonko’s efforts in sustainable humanitarian work, social work, and human capital development.
Sharing the news on social media, Sonko was thankful for the recognition, stating:
“See how God is placing me on platforms that put me and grant me favor while I am out of office. Give credit to Him because my labor here has been recognized.”
The high-profile conference brought together international leaders, benefactors, peace, and good governance stalwarts. They comprised Livinis Tsar Adzer, Victor Alonge, Chief Mrs. Bolaji Juliet Akinmulero, Dr. Carlos Sousa, Mr. Zelig Ifeanyi Okonmah, Jaruwan Vantana, Morenike Oluwaseun, Dr. Bastin Titus Anthony Raj, and Dr. Michael Kanthakaran.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Graziella Thake, UNIPGC Australia Secretary General, while the investiture was conducted by Barr. Williams Chima from the Advisory Council of UNIPGC. UNIPGC Global President H.E. Amb. Dr. Jonathan Ojadah urged recipients to act as peace ambassadors and to give exemplary leadership worldwide.
