Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has thrown his weight behind Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki as a future president of Kenya, hailing him as a diligent and visionary leader.
Speaking during a panel discussion on K24 TV, Ruku expressed confidence in Kindiki’s potential to ascend to the highest office in the land.
“The Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, is a man who will one day be the President of the Republic of Kenya. He is a very diligent person,” said Ruku.
The CS praised Kindiki’s leadership in championing economic empowerment forums — an initiative under the Kenya Kwanza administration — which seeks to uplift Kenyans through financial assistance and grassroots development programs.
Ruku further emphasised Kindiki’s remarkable political journey, noting his rise to the Deputy President’s position despite hailing from a minority community. “Prof. Kithure Kindiki is extremely diligent and committed. For him to have come from a small community to be the DP of Kenya tells you the spirit he carries,” Ruku remarked.
Responding to critics of the empowerment forums, Ruku dismissed concerns over the transparency of the funding, asserting that such criticism stems from a lack of creativity.
“For someone to say the money is coming from unknown sources, it’s only that they are not very innovative — they don’t think outside the box, even without the box,” he said.
The CS also took aim at former Chief Justice David Maraga, who had earlier suggested that the empowerment funds were proceeds of corruption. Ruku defended the initiative, stressing its legitimacy and the Deputy President’s integrity.
Kindiki has recently intensified countrywide empowerment programs, which have stirred both support and criticism in equal measure.
