Over 12 million Kenyans have registered for the new Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) which was officially rolled out on Tuesday, October 1.
According to the real-time data from the Social Health Authority (SHA) registration dashboard seen by TUKIO.co.ke, 12,540,117 have registered to the new health insurance scheme.
Of the total registration, 9,975,011 have transitioned from the now-defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), while 2,563,935 are new registrations.
Registration for SHIF membership can be done either by dialling USSD code *147# on the mobile phone and following the prompts, through the SHA portal or through Community Health Promoters.
