The government is committed to enhancing the welfare of members of the disciplined forces by providing decent affordable housing.

President William Ruto has announced that 20 percent of all housing units under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) across the country will be exclusively allocated to members of the disciplined forces.

Speaking during the official opening of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Police Housing Complex in Industrial Area, Nairobi County, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the living conditions of disciplined officers.

They include the military, National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service and the National Youth Service.

He said that disciplined officers will benefit from affordable financing through single-digit interest rate facilities from as low as 3 percent.

This move, he said, will ease the journey of home ownership and help disciplined officers to secure a future for their families.

“Officers will benefit from affordable financing through single-digit interest rate facilities, some 3 percent, making it easier for them to own these homes and secure their families’ futures,” said Dr. Ruto.

The modern complex comprises 210 fully furnished units, 200 two-bedroom and 10 three-bedroom apartments for police officers attached to the Central Bank of Kenya.

It also has a recreation centre, pharmacy, convenience store, canteen, fitness center and children’s play area.

President Ruto emphasized that the development is a landmark initiative in restoring the pride and dignity of Kenya’s law enforcement personnel.

“This marks a significant step forward in restoring the pride and dignity of our law enforcement officers,” said President Ruto.

The President revealed that construction is ongoing for 2,300 units specifically targeting police and prison officers across 15 counties.

These counties include Mandera, Machakos, Uasin Gishu, Tharaka Nithi, Bungoma, Tana River, Nyandarua, and Nairobi.
