The government is recommitting to enhancing Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education through the provision of STEM facilities for learners as future workforce skills.
Interior principal secretary, Raymond Omollo, described the investment in modern STEM facilities as a commitment to science and innovation in the country.
During a resource mobilization meeting organized for Ober Boys’ High School in Rachuonyo East Sub-County, Homa Bay County, Omollo explained the value of state-of-the-art laboratories, which give learners the chance to acquire practical skills, think critically, and be creative, qualities that enable one to be successful in today’s world.
The gathering was of the school’s leadership committee alumni parents teachers non, teaching staff, learners and others interested in education.
Omollo said that the government, the schools, the alumni and the local communities through joint ventures can work together to provide better learning facilities and also ensure that people have equal opportunity for quality education.
Minister for Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi, kabonodis Kasipul MP Eve Obara, URIRI MP Mark Nyamita and MIGORI senator Eddy Oketch were among the people that helped raise money at the event to build two science technology engineering, and math laboratories aimed at improving science education and helping learners prepare for jobs in innovation and technology-oriented sectors.
