The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is showcasing the growing commercial importance of Lake Victoria at this year’s Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show in Kisumu, highlighting recent investments that have revitalized cargo movement through Kisumu Port and modernized key lake transport infrastructure.
At its exhibition stand at the Mamboleo Showground, KPA is demonstrating how the expanded capacity of Kisumu Port and the refurbishment of strategic lake piers are strengthening trade between Kenya and neighbouring countries, particularly Uganda.
The Authority says the investments have enhanced the movement of goods across Lake Victoria, positioning Kisumu Port as a key gateway for regional commerce while supporting the increasing demand for multimodal transport along the Northern Corridor.
According to KPA, the improvements have boosted efficiency in cargo handling and reinforced the port’s role in facilitating cross-border trade, contributing to economic growth in the East African region.
The exhibition also provides visitors with insights into the Authority’s ongoing efforts to improve logistics infrastructure and promote seamless connectivity between road, rail and lake transport.
KPA has invited exhibitors, investors, business leaders and members of the public attending the Kisumu National ASK Show to visit its stand and learn more about its initiatives aimed at enhancing regional trade, transport and logistics.
