Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Kenya’s diaspora communities, emphasizing the importance of their welfare and rights.

Speaking during the launch of the inaugural Strategic Plan (2023-2027) for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Mudavadi highlighted the critical role the diaspora plays in Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.

“The Government remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering trust and confidence among our diaspora communities by prioritizing their welfare and safeguarding their rights,” Mudavadi stated. He noted that this will be achieved through the strengthening of policy, legal, and institutional frameworks that underpin diaspora affairs.

Mudavadi also emphasized the importance of Kenya positioning itself as a global leader in skilled labor export. He outlined the government’s vision to deepen collaboration and form strategic partnerships with the diaspora, noting that the contributions of Kenyans abroad continue to be a driving force behind the country’s economic growth.

“As we deepen collaboration and forge strategic partnerships with the diaspora, we are dedicated to positioning Kenya as a global leader in skilled labor export,” Mudavadi remarked.

The Strategic Plan (2023-2027) for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs is seen as a key roadmap for ensuring the long-term success of diaspora-related initiatives. Mudavadi stressed that the success of the plan would require collective effort, visionary leadership, and robust monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure impactful outcomes.

The plan outlines various strategies aimed at enhancing diaspora engagement, improving remittance flows, and leveraging the skills and expertise of Kenyans abroad for national development. Mudavadi expressed confidence that the collaborative implementation of the plan will enhance Kenya’s stature on the global stage while improving the livelihoods of the diaspora community.
